McMaster - Grenoble International Colloquia (MAGIC): focus on political sciences

MAGIC is a series of colloquiums designed to highlight the existing collaborations between McMaster and UGA and to explore new opportunities for scientific cooperation. It also offers an opportunity to increase interaction between researchers, PhDs and students!

These colloquiums are open to all research communities interested in the theme chosen for each session.
For the second session, scheduled on November 14, the chosen theme is:
Challenges in Democratic Societies: Political Polarization and Economic Inequality


Two presentations will be given by senior scientists and followed by a discussion. Here are the speakers:
  • Professor Sonja Zmerli, Sciences Po Grenoble-UGA: she will speak about a research project exploring the politicization of economic inequality
  • Dr Andrea Lawlor, Associate Professor at McMaster University: she will speak about research project exploring political trust in an age of hyperpolarization , then opening to ideas for future research

About the UGA - McMaster University partnership

McMaster University and Université Grenoble Alpes have a long history of scientific cooperation. Different scientific meetings have already been organized in the past, either in Hamilton or in Grenoble.
A framework agreement was signed in 2019 between UGA and McMaster University, one of the 8 strategic partners of the UGA.
